Press Release: Planetary Coffee, Traverse City’s First Coffee Truck, Joins Local Food Truck Community

Specialty coffee shop on wheels will be zipping throughout Traverse City and beyond, serving coffees and craft beverages sourced from an allstar cast of vendors.
Traverse City’s first coffee truck, Planetary Coffee, launched into orbit Thursday, August 4th, with a soft opening outside Press On Juice. “We’re overjoyed and so excited to bring these coffees to the community,” shared Erik Harms, who coowns Planetary Coffee with wife Emily Wilensky, “Traverse City has an amazing coffee scene and an outstanding food truck community, and we feel so privileged to join them both.”
Fueled by its coowners’ shared passion for coffee and customer service, Planetary Coffee is the culmination of the pair’s years of experience in both areas. Wilensky has worked as a barista in cafes in Chicago and Minneapolis, and Harms has extensive behindthescenes experience, working in production for Dogwood Coffee and Higher Grounds Trading Company. “Since we met, we’ve dreamed of creating our own space for sharing coffee with our beloved community,” says Wilensky, “We’re so excited to use our fascination with coffee, our geeky enthusiasm for everything from farming to roasting, to bring some of the planet’s best coffees to Traverse City.”
Planetary Coffee is on a mission to share great coffee with as many people as possible, while emphasising consciousness and integrity in every cup. “Playfulness, openness, and dedication to stellar service are central to our ethos,” shares Wilensky, “We believe in the power of great coffee to forge connections, building community on both small and global scales.” The environmentallyminded business will engage in recycling and composting, use ecofriendly products, and offer price incentives to customers who bring their own mugs, jars, or cups. “Of course,” adds Harms, “product is always a priority. We focus on integrity in all of our beverages, serving only coffee we can stand behind proudly.”
